Catherine Anne O'Hara OC (born on March 4th, 1954)is a Canadian-American actress comedian, writer, and actress. O'Hara is the recipient of a number of prizes which include the Genie Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, O'Hara was appointed an Officer of Canada. She also received the Governor General's Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Medal in 2020. O'Hara first became known as an actress while she was part of The Second City improv comedy troupe in Toronto in 1974. Dan Aykroyd and John Candy were also part of her main ensemble in the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara was a part of Candy in the sketch comedy show Second City Television (1976-1984). She received critical acclaim both for her acting and writing skills and was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award, 1981 for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. O'Hara was named to the Second City artistic advisory panel in 2022 by Stephen Colbert. Also included were Dwayne Colbert (Steve Carell), Tina Fey and Keegan-Michael Key and Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows.
